Do you use the Rockman for live shows? I wonder how well the Rockman sounds on a live stage with a band?

Why not make a setup where you can switch between all 4 Rockman tones? Or at least clean, crunch and lead? I suppose you'd need 3 or 4 Rockmans for that, though.

The 5 band graphic EQ is a rudimentary implementation of a sophisticated concept. Here's how to GREATLY improve on it. Connect a 1/3 octave (31 band) EQ into the effects loop. Bypass the on-board graphic and engage the loop. Now rather than play with 5 sliders to get a bone crushing tone, play with a whole lot more to get a finely tweaked and tuned tone that totally outclasses what is possible with just 5 bands. Start by figuring out which bands are too low in frequency to be useful, and which are too high in frequency to be useful. Drop the useless bands all the way down so they don't add any noise to the system. Now start tweaking the rest, I recommend you start at the bass and work your way up. Then make a second pass through them all, tweaking one slider at a time. I favor the Alesis digital programmable DEQ series equalizers. They allow you to creat and store many presets for many specific tones.

That's a great sound but as tempting as it might be, it wouldn't work for me or the music i play. I'm definitely more of a classic Marshall 80s sound guy. But wow.

Is the only thing you changed on the preset the mix? I just got my H90 and the preset just does not sound like this at all on mine. The delay is super super heavy from the vintage delay and it is super wet. Do you know what your mix is? Did you adjust anything with the delay?

Can i use the boss tae for play stereo with my head in 2 cabinets using my pedalboard for effects?

I have 5 of mark series amps, Green stripe, Red stripe, Blue Stripe and a a IIC+.. if they were vastly different they wouldn't have just swiped each version with just a magic marker swipe or a black dot or a + sign. The big difference in the IIC+ and the Mark III was the third channel. Mesa got noticeably different with the Mesa badging vs the Boogie badges. The Rectifier series,The lone star, Road King,Nomad, etc came later and did sound different... The stiletto was probably the most different being EL34 based shooting toward the Marshall tone. Even my newer Mark 5 EL84 based amp sits in my studio with the older mark III'S and IIC+ it too sounds really close even all these years later with totally different power section/ tubes. The petrucci amp is a modern Mark amp and you can line up all the Mark series amps and NO one in the audience would ever know the difference and most guitar players blind folded couldn't pick them out one from the other especially with the transparent EVM 12L black shadow speaker or an MC-90 black shadow. The IIC+ landed production in the right time to become the flagship vintage boogie. Thats when 80's music was huge and that amp was produced at the right time for the players who made it famous. it didn't make them famous. I would argue a Mark III purple, red, blue or green stripe Mark III could have been used by the players who made the IIC+ famous and those albums and concerts wouldn't have sounded any different. They just weren't available at the time those bands recorded those albums. They stopped the IIC+ when the mark III came into production. They stopped the III when the Mark IV started and so on....they are all great amps and tonally are the same. Most of those bands stopped playing the IIC+ and went to the mark III when it came out because the sound was basically the same but the 3 had a third channel, everyone loved that.

I cannot express enough my appreciation for guys like you who take the time and lay all this out for old crows like me who have lil or zero patience anymore for all this insane tech shit that is INCREDIBLY COOL but a bit challenging. This made my time involved so much easier , so thank you, and yes again THANK YOU !!! It took me a few minutes to figure out that the primary head is the "Master", and the other heads are the "slaves", as well I didn't understand why all 3 were all clean and not dirty or they didn't have any gain or distortion. Simply switching channels from clean to dirty on the primary made me smile really big. Another thing I need to figure out is what to do with my existing pedals and how to link them to my fx loops with the Boss SDE. If you have a video regarding that im thinking it would be much appreciated by many. Surprisingly I didn't have any need for a noise gate, but I can't seem to get it to work. Not sure but I will read up I guess. Thanks again!!!

30 years ago, I used a 2 Rockman rig. It had an FET stereo chorus (switched OFF) to buffer the inputs to each, and 1/8" to 1/4" adapter cables running to a line level A/B switch This mono signal went into my rack FX (noise gate after the DIST assigned box, EQ, multi-effects). Cheap, simple, effective. An exciter of some sort is recommended, as is a full-range keyboard or bass amp, or powered speaker.

Dude thank you so much for actually showcasing the versatility of this thing and not just playing Van Halen riffs! That clean channel especially sounds fantastic! I really feel like the EVH series are some of the best/most versatile amps on the market right now, but I also feel like most people don't realize it because it's associated with Eddie and everyone plays the same stuff when they demo them. Props to you!

The new SS V2 is Friedman's best amp. That amp's plexi channel is amazing....very percussive, mid-focused, and raw, which aren't typically words used to describe Friedman's amps. That, and a Knaggs sound good through a trash can. What a killer setup. Thanks or sharing.

I was really at a loss until I found this video .. also idk for whatever is worth, I am setting up the 4 cm with a Mesa triple rectifier and I thought the delay wasn’t working, well on the back of this amp there’s a loop mix adjustment and so mine was turned down all the way down.. so if you don’t hear your post amp effects check to see if maybe your amp has something similar

Line 6 engl sims have always sounded gnarly, the one in the older is hd prod sounds ridiculous I’ve tried all sorts of other modelers and I’m stuck on using my prox from 2014, something about the fireball tone I dialed in it is just it for me sounds crazy good

Do a follow up video on the upgrade?I got this same one (this finish,Lava Orange Crackle, is one of the more rarer of the two finishes that were released for this model (You see more of the green crackles for sale for whatever reason than the orange probably because it’s the More appealing one although I don’t mind the green either maybe do a fingerboard replacement.I got the Lava Orange Crackle as well and Upgraded EVERYTHING on it to give it the American Feel on quality parts for those of us who are nitpicky and like what we like.I swapped the okay Duncan Designed pickups which are desired by some folks so don’t just throw them out (Resale opportunity),and I replaced them with Custom Shop Seymour Duncan Brandon Ellis Parallel Axis “Dyad” in black and gold with gold pole pieces on the Trembucker on the bridge position and a custom Standard pole spacing on the Neck Position one as well to match.I custom Wired the pickups as these are a one of a kind where you can flip the pickups 180 degrees to get a different tone if you have a warmer sounding guitar or flip it if you want it to sound brighter.Schaller 5 way switch for coil splitting and CTS Push/Pull Pot on the tone to activate the coil splitting 5 way position blade when in position 2 and 4.Gotoh Magnum Tuners with Pearl buttons to match the fingerboard inlays.Titanium Gold anodized Floyd saddles screws on the Floyd to match the hardware.Now it looks and sounds tight and super quality love this bad boy.They need to do an American Series crackle for sure I own the SL3 American Series Slime Green with the MOP inlays (heavily modified to look custom shop) and although this SLX one is a tad bit lighter,they feel the same when playing. #BUFFALO #NEWYORK #JACKSONFAMILY
